Let Me In

Something wicked live in her soul

Expecting more from vampire tale beside of romantic story that usually dominated, Let Me In is the good option for that. Taken from a novel Let The Right One In by John Adjvide and highly acclaimed film of the same name in 2008, the movie that obtain a mark as the return of legendary British horror brand Hammer film portrays different side of vampire lifes. How they struggle to keep their life by killing people in any way until use their lover as slave blood seeker.

Based in the darkness of life, the set is taken in Los Alamos, New Mexico, in a small town circa 1983. A 12-year old boy named Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee) living in miserable life – divorce parents, has no friends, and live in a rigid environment. His life becomes worse when he has a crush in a girl who moved to aprtement next to him named Abby (Chloe Grace Moretz) with her “father” (Richard Jenkins). Because of their oddity, they quickly form a bond and always spent the time together. No time, the closer the two get, the more Owen realizes that Abby is different. She has something darker than his, something dangerous even for his soul.

The potrayal of vampire love is illustrated differently this time, Matt Reeves the director give the touch of an awkward kid romance. Without describing how beautiful Abby as a vampire when eating people, this movie full of killing, bullying, and disposal of victims. Blood is everywhere, dead is the sharp point, no more beautiful face and calm attitude, especially when Chloe Moretzbecomes vampire she is like a mess but still can control herself – not kill her lover (for her patron future actually). But the plot is run slowly, little bit bored, and makes the audience wait for the climax which can be claimed in a pool scene before the movie ends. Overall, is a good vampire tale story that gives new breath from its similar story such as Twilight.
