The Youngest Designer in Indonesia

He is still nine years old!

Over 150 designers participated in JFW 2012, but not one of them is younger than him. Yes, that’s Rafi Abdurrahman Ridwan, he might still nine years old and hearing-impaired, but his creation can be juxtaposed with the well-known designer, Barli Asmara. He collaborated with the creator which already plunge to the Indonesian fashion world with Eastern Everland as the theme and succeed attract Lia Candrasari – the founder of LC Foundation who spellbound  with his handiwork.

Through his charming design, Lia assisting Rafi to gain his dream to be the youngest fashion designer in Indonesia. As her first step, she helped Rafi to be able to hear with his right ears on last September. Then now, she provides opportunity to Rafi to showcase his ensemble in the biggest fashion event in Indonesia, Jakarta Fashion Week 2012. This juvenile designer collaborated with Nonita Respati (Purana Batik) and Ariani Pradjasaputra (AARTI-Pieces of Art- Accessories) to realize his sketch into the actual execution in tune with the aim of LC Foundation to explore the potential indigenous culture of Indonesia . Therefore, utilization Batik as the main material still become the focus in this project, especially Batik from Solo, Yogyakarta, Pekalongan, Madura, Rembang, to the corner of Indonesia. For the accessories, dominated by patchwork to creates the best texture of Batik itself.

Rafi is a special designer who has an extraordinary visualization capability, allows him to draw sketches of women's clothing, using any tools with detail without any errors. This capability utilized by him to provide unique detail in every sketch he made, makes its own charm to present his ready-to-wear compilation which portrayed as top, outerwear, jumpsuit -- all carrying bright feminism earthy colors. Shown on 18 November 2011 at Pacific Place as the culmination date, was a big honor to him to introduced his new line ‘PAR’, brought the ‘Echoes of Heritage’ as the main touch to his set which realized by designers he works with. Through his first collection, Rafi prove that he deserves to be reckoned as the youngest  new vibrant designer.
